Welcome to yet another NEW subpage (april 13th, 2011)
The idea struck me while reading some posts to one of my uploads on YouTube to Roy Buchanan's version of 'Lonesome Fugitive'. Why not get the album all in one place to look at and .. more important: to LISTEN to!
So here is my attempt in getting in all together for y'all:
First some info on the album (merely the text to my upload of 'Fugitive':
This is the ULTIMATE version of one of my ALL TIME COUNTRY FAVS: '( i am a ) LONESOME FUGITIVE'. Performed by Roy Buchanan and The Snakestretchers. Used to play it a lot myself, mostly in the duo setting with Gerrit van Berkum as DOKTER+VAN BERKUM. No coincidence they both played a Fender Telecaster; R.I.P. Roy and Gerrit. This one is for you, Gerrit. **************************************************************** LYRICS:
I'd like to settle down, but they won't let me. A fugitive must be a rolling stone. Down every road there's always one more city. I'm on the run, the highway is my home.
I raised a lot of cain back in my younger days while mama used to pray my crops would fail. Now i'm a hunted fugitive with just two ways. It's outrun the law or spend my life in jail.
I'd like to settle down, but they won't let me. A fugitive must be a rolling stone. Down every road there's always one more city. I'm on the run, the highway is my home.
(One of THE !! guitar solos with some of the finest and certainly most deepfelt notes you will EVER hear!)
I'd like to take you with me but can't afford the luxury a fugitive must be a rolling stone. You'd only slow me down and they'd catch up with me. For he who travels fastest rolls alone.
I'd like to settle down, but they won't let me. A fugitive must be a rolling stone. Down every road there's always one more city. I'm on the run, the highway is my home ************************************************************ This Buchanan-version comes from the 1972 Polydor-album simply called 'Roy Buchanan' . The album contains following tracks:
A1- Sweet Dreams (Don Gibson) A2- I am a Lonesome Fugitive (Liz+Casey Anderson) A3- Cajun (Roy Buchanan) A4- John's Blues (Roy Buchanan) A5- Haunted House (R.Geddins)
B1- Pete's Blue (Roy Buchanan) B2- The Messiah will come again (Roy Buchanan) B3- Hey, Good lookin' (Hank Willams)
Roy Buchanan and The Snakestretchers:

There has been a time in which i knew the full meaning of the lines: 'Down every road there's always one more city. I'm on the run, the highway is my home .. ' Been there, lived them too, them miles and miles of highways..
Hope you like it. I LOVE IT! To me it is THE version of the song. Recorded by many many artists like Merle Haggard, Jerry Lee Lewis etc.etc.
Love and peace and hope to all of you
